Michelin Guide Tokyo 2026: Plaque Presentation Ceremony for Selected & Bib Gourmand Restaurants
On November 23, 2026, a new chapter was written in the history of the Michelin Guide at the Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel in Shibuya, Tokyo. While official Michelin ceremonies have traditionally centered on Starred restaurants (One Star and above), this event marked the world's first plaque presentation ceremony held specifically for "Selected" and "Bib Gourmand" establishments.

The organizer of this historic event was the official Michelin partner, OMAKASE (JapanEatinerary). Prominent chefs from across Japan and restaurant owners who are the pillars of the culinary scene gathered under one roof, realizing a "first-of-its-kind" initiative in Tokyo that holds immense significance for the industry.
It was us, OMAKASE, who created this venue to embody the Guide's philosophy—that "Michelin listing implies more than just Stars"—ahead of the rest of the world.

A Special Talk Session: Culinary Master × Culinary Master

A special talk session was held featuring Chef Shuzo Kishida of the three-star French restaurant Quintessence and Chef Shota Iida of Iida Shoten, representing Japan’s ramen scene. The session was moderated by Mr. Asai, CEO of OMAKASE.
Responding to pre-submitted questions such as "Concepts behind menu and course design" and "Approaches to improving technical skills as a craftsman," both chefs provided thoughtful answers from their respective viewpoints. They shared the mindsets and attitudes cultivated at the very forefront of the culinary world.
Participants remarked that the dialogue, which transcended genres that rarely intersect, provided a wealth of learning and inspiration.

The Plaque Presentation
The Michelin Guide Tokyo 2026 features 252 Selected restaurants and 114 Bib Gourmand restaurants. During the ceremony, plaques were presented to the attending restaurants among the newly listed establishments (38 Selected and 16 Bib Gourmand).
