Nestled in the rich natural beauty of Awaji Island, KOKOCHIYO is a Japanese restaurant named with the heartfelt wish to be “a place of comfort.”

Housed in a lovingly renovated 45-year-old traditional home, the interior blends serenity and warmth—featuring scenic views from the windows and handcrafted tableware and furnishings by local artists.

The restaurant serves seasonal kaiseki cuisine highlighting seafood available only on Awaji Island. Spring offers fragrant grilled conger eel over binchotan charcoal; summer showcases hamo (pike conger), a beloved Kansai delicacy; and from autumn through winter, guests are treated to the rare “three-year-aged torafugu,” a premium tiger pufferfish raised with care over time.

Each dish is a reflection of the chef’s skill and sincerity, thoughtfully prepared to draw out the natural essence of each ingredient.

In recognition of its culinary excellence and tranquil ambience, KOKOCHIYO was awarded one Michelin star in the Hyogo Special Edition in 2016. Since then, it has continued to enchant discerning locals and gastronomes from afar.

• Arrival time:

  Please arrive 5 minutes before your reserved time to ensure a timely start of your meal. If you do not contact us and exceed your reservation time, it will be automatically canceled.

  Lunch begins promptly at 12:00 for all guests, but the restaurant opens at 11:30. You’re welcome to come inside and wait comfortably until the start.

• Dress Code:

  Dress code is smart casual (Please refrain from wearing T-shirts, shorts, and sandals when you visit.)

• Children:

  Available. Kids' meal: 1,500 JPY (tax included)
