How to Reserve at ricuperare Takeuchi: Menu Highlights & Dining Experience

Sep 01, 2025

In Osaka’s Kita-Shinchi, ricuperare Takeuchi is a Michelin-listed Italian hideaway. Known for its wood-fired cuisine, handmade pasta, and refined ambience, this article shares my dining experience and how to reserve a table.

What Kind of Restaurant is ricuperare Takeuchi?

I visited ricuperare Takeuchi, a discreet Italian restaurant tucked away in Kita-Shinchi. Featured in the Michelin Guide for two consecutive years (2024 and 2025), expectations were naturally high — and Chef Takeuchi’s creations turned out to be nothing short of culinary art.

Innovative Wood-Fired Cuisine – Highlight 1

The greatest appeal of ricuperare Takeuchi lies in Chef Takeuchi’s masterful use of fire — whether it’s wood, charcoal, or straw. Each technique brings out the pure essence of the ingredients. With every bite, the natural flavors are intensified, leaving a lasting impression. From appetizers to mains, every dish reflects the chef’s passion and meticulous craftsmanship.

Handmade Pasta Meets Seasonal Ingredients – Highlight 2

Another standout is the restaurant’s abundant use of seasonal ingredients. The house-made, hand-rolled pasta — one of the chef’s specialties — was particularly memorable. Its delightfully chewy texture paired perfectly with sauces made from the freshest seafood and vegetables of the season, creating a balance that makes you want to come back for more.

The courses include options such as the “Signature Wood-Fire Dinner Course” (8,800 yen, tax included) and the Wood-Fire Lunch Course” (4,400 yen, tax included), making it easy to choose according to the occasion. Since the omakase (chef’s choice) menus are crafted from the finest ingredients of the day, there’s always something new to discover each time you visit.

An Intimate Hideaway with Exceptional Hospitality – Highlight 3

The interior features warm wooden tones, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere — the perfect adult hideaway that makes you forget the bustle of the city. The seating is spacious enough for private conversations, adding to the comfort. Wine lovers will be delighted by the extensive wine list, with thoughtful pairings suggested by the sommelier to complement each dish. Combined with attentive and graceful service, the entire experience feels truly special.

Dining at ricuperare Takeuchi: A First-Hand Report

I visited on a weekday evening in February 2025 with a friend. Instead of opting for a set course, we decided to order a few à la carte dishes that caught our eye.

Dish 1 – Bruschetta with House-Made Prosciutto Cotto & Wood-Fired Pistachio Bread

We started with a bruschetta featuring fragrant pistachio bread baked over a wood fire, topped with house-made prosciutto cotto. The smoky aroma of the bread combined beautifully with the nutty pistachio flavor, making it irresistible alongside a glass of sparkling wine (from around 800 yen –1,300 yen per glass). A perfect opener that quickly set the tone for the evening.

Dish 2 – Grilled Hokkaido Scallops with Cauliflower & Nori Salsa Verde

Next came a standout: fresh Hokkaido scallops grilled over an open wood flame. The natural sweetness of the scallops paired elegantly with a vibrant salsa verde made from cauliflower and seaweed, which enhanced the dish’s subtle oceanic flavors. The balance of briny notes and smoky char was exceptional. Price: 1,900 yen.

Dish 3 – SPF Pork Loin, Wood & Charcoal Grilled

For the main, we chose the SPF pork loin, carefully grilled over wood and charcoal. The outside was beautifully seared and smoky, while the inside remained tender and juicy. Simple in seasoning yet rich in depth, this dish highlighted the pure flavor of the meat at its best. Price: 4,200 yen.

Dish 4 – Tiramisu Nocciola

To finish, we couldn’t resist the tiramisu. The “Tiramisu Nocciola” offered the familiar creamy layers with the added warmth of roasted hazelnut, giving it a refined, nutty depth. With just the right level of sweetness, it was a sophisticated ending to the meal. Price: 800 yen.

The Ambience

Stepping inside, the restaurant immediately envelops you in a serene atmosphere, far removed from the city’s bustle. Warm wood finishes and gentle indirect lighting create a sophisticated yet welcoming space. The tables are generously spaced, ensuring privacy and ease of conversation — the very definition of an intimate hideaway ideal for romantic dinners, anniversaries, or other special occasions. A modest seating charge of 300 yen applies at dinner, but given the refined setting and attentive service, it feels entirely justified.

During our visit, the dining room hosted a mix of guests, including several Western diners. It’s no surprise that a Michelin-listed restaurant with such a distinct blend of Italian cuisine and Japanese sensibility would attract international attention. While I wasn’t able to confirm if English service is formally available, the cosmopolitan atmosphere suggested that overseas guests would feel at home here.

Presentation and Pace of Service

Each dish arrived plated like a work of art — visually stunning and thoughtfully composed, making the experience as delightful for the eyes as it was for the palate. The pacing of the meal was perfectly timed, allowing us to savor every meal without ever feeling rushed. Combined with the staff’s attentive and polished service, it all came together as a truly outstanding dining experience.
