
About Tonkatsu Junchan
Tonkatsu Junchan is a lunch-only tonkatsu specialty restaurant overseen by Jun Kurogi, the acclaimed owner-chef of the Tokyo kappo establishment Kurogi. After training at several prestigious restaurants, Chef Kurogi opened Kurogi in 2010, earning accolades including a Michelin star. Today, he remains at the forefront of Japanese culinary innovation, devoted to the continued evolution of Japanese culinary culture.
The signature tonkatsu features carefully selected Bando Mochi Pork, double-fried—first at low heat, then at high—to achieve a crisp coating and succulent center. Guests can enjoy it with an array of seasonings, including natural sun-dried salt from Kochi Prefecture, fresh lemon, and a house-made grated daikon Worcestershire sauce. The set also includes curry, offering the option to savor it as a flavorful katsu curry. The rice is “Ryu no Hitomi” (Dragon’s Eye), a rare variety prized for its natural sweetness and sticky texture—an ideal match for tonkatsu.
