Tucked away on a quiet back street in Sumida’s old downtown district, SPiCE Cafe is a restaurant where the owner—having traveled through 48 countries—expresses his deep knowledge of spices through a distinctly Japanese sensibility.

Set in a warmly renovated former wooden apartment building, the restaurant offers a dinner course called the “Spice Tasting Menu” each evening.

Approaching “spice” as a philosophy of blending different elements to create something new, the menu consists of seven dishes that combine spices with ingredients unique to Japan. Each dish is marked by distinct aromas and flavors, with a striking simplicity free of unnecessary embellishment.

Complementing the cuisine are carefully selected pairing drinks that highlight the individuality of the spices.

Relaxed yet unmistakably special, the experience is well suited for anniversaries or meaningful meals with someone important.

  If you have any specific food allergies or ingredients you cannot consume, please inform us in advance. Unfortunately, we cannot accept reservations if there are ingredients that you cannot eat within a wide range.

• Arrival time:

  Please arrive 5 minutes before your reserved time to ensure a timely start of your meal. If you do not contact us and exceed your reservation time, it will be automatically canceled.

• Dress Code:

  Dress code is smart casual (Please refrain from wearing T-shirts, shorts, and sandals when you visit.)

• Children:

  Only those who can enjoy the same course as adults are allowed.

  Children who can dine on the same course as adults should be included in the total number of guests.

  Please note that we do not offer a children’s menu
