Located in Iwade, Wakayama, villa aida is a beautiful standalone restaurant reminiscent of an Italian villa. Chef Kanji Kobayashi, born into a part‑time farming family, trained at acclaimed establishments such as the Michelin‑starred Don Alfonso 1890 in Campania before opening his own restaurant in 1998.

His philosophy centers on “garden gastronomy,” featuring more than 300 varieties of vegetables grown annually in his own fields. By highlighting the vibrant flavors of ingredients harvested each morning, he offers an innovative, entirely plant‑based course that uses no meat or fish. The dining room features white walls and a large communal table crafted from vintage Wakayama wood, creating a serene and intimate setting. With only six guests per day, the experience is both luxurious and deeply immersive. Paired with natural wines, it promises an unforgettable culinary journey for a special occasion with someone dear.
