About Gion Manma
Indulge in Exquisite Kaiseki Cuisine at Our Hidden Gem Townhouse.
Step into a townhouse reminiscent of wandering into a garden overflowing with greenery. In this quaint setting, serene white chairs line up against a white wood counter, quietly inviting you to take a seat. Our head chef, trained in Gifu's finest renowned ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurant), will skillfully prepare Kaiseki cuisine right before your eyes, creating a lively dining experience.
Each delicacy, carefully grilled over charcoal, accentuates the natural flavors of the ingredients. With seating only at the counter, the ambiance feels like a private space shared with the chef. Witnessing the delicate culinary techniques unfold before you adds to the experience.
At our pride, the "irori" (sunken hearth), we passionately grill carefully selected game meats and fresh seafood. The crackling flames fill the air with a savory aroma, while each bite offers a blissful explosion of flavors. Enjoy a moment of pure bliss that engages all your senses.
The name "Manma" embodies the chef's desire to offer simple yet sincere dishes.
Whether it's a special occasion with loved ones or a treat for yourself, come and immerse yourself in a truly blissful experience at our establishment.

Reviews of Gion Manma
A Birthday Feast to Remember
Posted on : 03/04/2025Gion Manma was insane—easily the best dinner we had in Japan. The intimate setting, warm hospitality, and mind-blowing Kyoto-style izakaya dishes made for an unforgettable experience. Every bite was perfection, from the freshest sashimi to the perfectly crusted & grilled wagyu. The staff went above and beyond, making my wife’s birthday feel truly special. If you’re in Kyoto and want a meal that feels like a secret, tastes like a dream, and leaves you planning your next visit before you’ve even left—this is it.Andrew Mason
Posted on : 11/12/2024The service was exceptional. All the food was made with care. The chef showed prowess of charcoal cookery, crab preparation, and sashimi. The beverage were delicious and the best of the stay in Kyoto. The counter was relaxed and easy going and comfortable.
