We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
This is a traditional Japanese restaurant in Kyoto with a history of over 300 years (founded in 1722).
This restaurant serves authentic Kyoto kaiseki cuisine, which is a traditional Japanese meal that follows the tea ceremony tradition. The menu focuses on seafood and Kyoto vegetables, and each dish is carefully prepared by our skilled chefs to bring out the maximum flavor of the ingredients.
The special experience at the restaurant begins the moment you step through the noren of our historic building.
The owner-himself has set up a stylish room where you can enjoy our carefully selected dishes in elegant tableware. The atmosphere of the room, the tableware, and everything you feel at our restaurant will enhance the deliciousness of the food and deliver a special moment in harmony with the Japanese seasons.
In addition to Kyoto kaiseki, Mankamero also offers yusoku cuisine. Yusoku cuisine is a traditional Japanese cuisine that originated in the Imperial Court of the Heian period. It is often served at auspicious events. The specialness of yusoku cuisine is reflected in its presentation and serving, and you can enjoy a more luxurious and elegant atmosphere.
The tenth-generation owner of Mankamerou is also the 30th head of the Ikama-ryu shikibocho. Shikibocho is a culinary ceremony that has been held at the Imperial Court of the Heian period and other auspicious occasions.
The shikibocho ceremony is performed using a kitchen knife and chopsticks to cut the ingredients into auspicious shapes called "Zuisho." The ingredients are offerings to the gods, so they are not touched directly. This traditional skill, which has been passed down from father to son for generations, is still practiced today (Reservations are required to view the ceremony).
