About Artisan TEPPAN RESTAURANT
Nestled along a quiet street in Kyoto’s Shichijō district, Artisan is a teppanyaki restaurant that exudes refined elegance. The name “Artisan” symbolizes deep respect not only for chefs but for all who dedicate themselves to craftsmanship—be it farmers, fishermen, ceramic artists, or other makers.
Owner-chef Yuki Shinohara embarked on his culinary journey in Italy in 2013, honing his skills at Michelin-starred restaurants in Florence and on the island of Ischia. Exposure to the distinct culinary philosophies of northern and southern Italy enriched his understanding of ingredients and deepened his appreciation for the craft.
Artisan stands out with its multi-course dining format—a rarity in teppanyaki. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted with creative freedom, transcending the boundaries of Italian and teppanyaki traditions, and highlighting the true essence of every ingredient. One of the restaurant’s signature offerings is Omi beef, personally selected by the chef after visiting producers to assess bloodlines and breeding environments. This rare, tri-bloodline Japanese Black cattle delivers a uniquely exquisite flavor that sets it apart.
The interior’s minimalistic design, with its predominantly white tones, creates a serene and sophisticated atmosphere. Decorative elements are intentionally kept to the bare essentials, allowing each dish and vessel to animate the space with quiet elegance and color upon presentation.
Indulge in carefully curated ingredients, masterfully cooked with precise heat control and presented in a course menus that elevate teppanyaki beyond its traditional confines.
