Fine Dining in Kyoto with Breathtaking Cherry Blossom Views
Savoring Japan’s iconic cherry blossoms while dining at a Michelin-listed restaurant or another top-tier establishment is an experience unlike any other. The OMAKASE editorial team, an official Michelin partner, presents the finest dining destinations in Kyoto, where you can enjoy exquisite cuisine paired with stunning cherry blossom views.
Cherry Blossom Season in Kyoto
In Japan, cherry blossoms typically bloom from late March to early April. The 2025 forecast predicts a similar schedule, with blossoms expected to begin opening around March 29 in Tokyo and March 30 in Osaka and Kyoto. Peak bloom is anticipated around April 4 in the Kanto region and April 6 in Osaka.
Since cherry blossoms remain in full bloom for only about a week—and may fall even sooner due to weather conditions—catching them at their peak is a rare and unforgettable experience. In Kyoto, some of the most renowned cherry blossom viewing spots include the Gion area, particularly around Kodaiji Temple and Heian Shrine, as well as the Daigoji Temple area in Fushimi.
Enjoying Cherry Blossoms While Dining
In Japan, it's a cherished tradition to gather under cherry trees during the blossom season to share meals with friends, family, and colleagues. People come together to enjoy packed lunches and drinks while taking in the beauty of the fully bloomed-cherry blossoms.
In this article, the OMAKASE editorial team, a Michelin official partner, presents fine dining spots where you can immerse yourself in the iconic cherry blossom experience—an essential part of Japanese culture. Don't miss out on these restaurants, which are sure to be a highlight of your trip to Japan.

Gabriela4.7Posted on :12/03/2024One of the most fun and delicious culinary experiences of my travels in Japan was my dinner at Torisho Sai. The chefs were most gracious; the restaurant decor very elegant; the food fresh and perfectly seasoned and prepared. It was a delight to watch the team in action. They obviously have very good rapport and work in unison. My only complaint is that I may have over indulged just a little bit, but every calorie was worth it. 😉 Highly recommended!
I don’t know which was my favorite course: the duck tartare, the consommé with (very delicate) noodles, or the chicken tail. The latter made me giggle with delight, it was so good!
[Since the restaurant is new and not yet on Google Maps, it would be helpful to provide contact information with the email confirmation in case others (like me) get lost in transit.] -

Samantha5.0Posted on :02/01/2025Koke was the highlight meal of my 3 week stay in Japan. The food was absolutely delicious and creative with its presentation and flavouring. The meal and dining experience exceeded my expectations. I will admit that I was nervous to eat here, afraid that I would feel out of place and intimidated by such a high class experience, but the staff and welcoming atmosphere of Koke made for a relaxing and enjoyable meal. I will definitely be making another reservation the next time I'm in Kyoto.

Devon Goodell5.0Posted on :03/18/2025We enjoyed a traditional kaiseki lunch at Kyoyamato during our honeymoon trip to Japan and we can confidently say it was one of the highlights of our trip. We will recommend this dining experience to everyone as a "must" for Kyoto. Kyoyamato is absolutely breathtaking with its traditional gardens and the historic building that you dine in. The warm tatami floors and panoramic views of the garden while you dine are spectacular. Not only is it a beautiful, peaceful environment to enjoy lunch (especially after traversing the busy streets of Kyoto), but the food itself is exquisite. Every single bite was better than the last, and one of the pieces of fish that we had during our meal is the single best piece of fish we have ever tasted. It melted in your mouth and was incredibly decadent for a delicate piece of fish. The service was impeccable, and despite a language barrier, our hostess was incredibly warm and accommodating. She even sensed that I was a little chilly and brought me warm hoji-cha tea to help me feel more comfortable. We have eaten at several Michelin-ranked restaurants and Kyoyamato will forever be one of our favorites and we feel deserves more than one star. Kyoyamato is more than a restaurant--it is a full sensory experience with the highest bar set for hospitality. Thank you for an unforgettable meal and memory from our special trip to Japan.
