11 Kid-Friendly MICHELIN Restaurants in Kyoto
Kyoto, a city that attracts tourists year-round, is a wonderful destination for families. This list of 11 MICHELIN-starred restaurants in Kyoto is a must-read for those seeking kid-friendly dining options. Curated by the OMAKASE editorial team, these spots welcome children and offer a variety of culinary experiences.
Regarding the acceptance of Infants and Children in Japan's High-End Restaurants
In Japan's fine dining scene, whether or not young children are allowed often depends on the restaurant, which can make choosing a place challenging for parents. However, there are surprisingly many restaurants that welcome children under 12 and even infants, so it's worth looking into options without giving up. That said, some restaurants only allow children in private rooms, others accept strollers, and some may require prior consultation when making a reservation, so it's important to check ahead. This article will introduce MICHELIN-starred restaurants in Kyoto where you can dine with children, which we hope will be helpful for your planning.
Tip: If you are bringing small children, please inform us in the Special Requests section when making a reservation.

Sunita Kumar5.0Posted on :06/12/2024I am so glad to have had the experience of an omakase dinner at Kitaoji Yuyu. The chef and his wife were ready and waiting for us when we arrived. We were the only customers so it felt exclusive.. something I have never experienced before. The dishes were excellent in taste, so well plated in such exquisite dishes and bowls. It was a feast for all five senses! The ingredients used were of top quality and some were native to Kyoto region. Dessert was Japanese pudding with fruit with matcha.

Devon Goodell5.0Posted on :03/18/2025We enjoyed a traditional kaiseki lunch at Kyoyamato during our honeymoon trip to Japan and we can confidently say it was one of the highlights of our trip. We will recommend this dining experience to everyone as a "must" for Kyoto. Kyoyamato is absolutely breathtaking with its traditional gardens and the historic building that you dine in. The warm tatami floors and panoramic views of the garden while you dine are spectacular. Not only is it a beautiful, peaceful environment to enjoy lunch (especially after traversing the busy streets of Kyoto), but the food itself is exquisite. Every single bite was better than the last, and one of the pieces of fish that we had during our meal is the single best piece of fish we have ever tasted. It melted in your mouth and was incredibly decadent for a delicate piece of fish. The service was impeccable, and despite a language barrier, our hostess was incredibly warm and accommodating. She even sensed that I was a little chilly and brought me warm hoji-cha tea to help me feel more comfortable. We have eaten at several Michelin-ranked restaurants and Kyoyamato will forever be one of our favorites and we feel deserves more than one star. Kyoyamato is more than a restaurant--it is a full sensory experience with the highest bar set for hospitality. Thank you for an unforgettable meal and memory from our special trip to Japan.
