Its proximity to both entertainment and business districts makes Roppongi an ideal area for Western-influenced dining to flourish. Even teppanyaki grilling, now a recognized Japanese cooking style, is said to have developed to suit Western palattes on the eve of the 1960s Tokyo Olympics. In the 21st century, Roppongi was chosen as home to the first international location for several of New York's famous steakhouses. The Roppongi neighborhood is the perfect part of Tokyo to visit for a premium steakhouse or teppan experience for visitors from any part of the world.

3. Azabudai Nakamura (麻布台 中むら) / Japanese, kappo and Steak

  1. Michelin (2015 - 2017): One Star
  2. Japan Restaurant Award, Best 100 (2021 - 2022), Bronze (2019 - 2024)

In January of 2024, Chef Nakamura's highly acclaimed restaurant shifted from its original location in Kagurazaka to the new Azabudai Hills complex in Kamiyacho. The chef recalls his first bite of life-changing wagyu, a bite of sirloin snuck during his shifts as a hotel employee. From that time, he has honed his skills across a wide range of cuisines and earned domestic and international accolades. From 2015 to 207, Chef Nakamura held a Michelin star, then earned Bronze restaurant awards and 100 Best Restaurant awards from the nation's largest domestic restaurant registry between 2019 and 2024. Chef Nakamura's signature style relies on ultimate freshness and purity of ingredients. As he is known for using the moisture contained in each ingredient to steam it on the teppan, the use of seasonings and oils is limited. This technique leaves diners feeling light but satisfied, even after enjoying a luxurious meal of well-marbled wagyu and classical Japanese dishes. For diners hoping to enjoy a wide range of Japanese cuisine while keeping the emphasis on wagyu, Chef Nakamura's experience is one of the best.

6. Mon cher ton ton (六本木モンシェルトントン) / Teppanyaki

  1. Japan Restaurant Award, Best 100 (2021, 2024)

Mon Cher Ton Ton takes its unique name from the legendary Japanese author, Shusaku Endo. Established in 1961 by the Seryna restaurant group, Mon Cher Ton Ton has been a long-patronized venue by celebrities and fine dining lovers. 1. Japan Restaurant Award, Best 100 (2021, 2022, 2024)

BENJAMIN Steakhouse Roppongi makes use of the same techniques as the original. Under the expert guidance of executive chef Arturo McLeod, the team at BENJAMIN Steakhouse Roppongi ages USDA Prime beef for a minimum of four weeks in their dedicated facility.
