About Kitaoji Yuyu
Our chef, Mr. Tetsuya Shimoda, creates delicate flavors that enhance the taste of ingredients with his curiosity and creative enthusiasm.
Since his apprenticeship, he has been devoted to creating new flavors by combining traditional and modern techniques.
Our culinary repertoire extends beyond traditional Japanese cuisine, offering dishes such as sashimi sandwiches with whitefish and bluefish and beef tongue stew seasoned with white miso, which is rich and flavorful.

Posted on : 06/12/2024I am so glad to have had the experience of an omakase dinner at Kitaoji Yuyu. The chef and his wife were ready and waiting for us when we arrived. We were the only customers so it felt exclusive.. something I have never experienced before. The dishes were excellent in taste, so well plated in such exquisite dishes and bowls. It was a feast for all five senses! The ingredients used were of top quality and some were native to Kyoto region. Dessert was Japanese pudding with fruit with matcha.

We especially liked the first entree with Imo, it was surprising and our favorite!
The chef and his wife were very attentive and even though we only speak a bit of Japanese they used the cellphone with a translator app to help explain the dishes to us in English
