Located in a quiet machiya townhouse in Kyoto’s Nishijin district, Masumasu Masuda has been thoughtfully renovated into an intimate dining space. The chef, originally from Nikko, presents kaiseki cuisine that harmoniously blends Kyoto’s seasonal vegetables with the rich bounty of his hometown, Tochigi. Centered around seasonal Kyoto produce and premium seafood, the course also incorporates regional specialties such as Itadakimasu trout and Tochigi wagyu beef, culminating in a 10-course experience including dessert. By combining traditional techniques with a modern sensibility, the cuisine emphasizes the depth of dashi while featuring a generous use of vegetables, resulting in flavors that feel both refined and gentle on the body.
The interior features an elegant counter-only setting, where a simple yet luxurious space is complemented by a serene garden view, creating a soothing and welcoming atmosphere. Guests can also enjoy the immersive experience of watching each dish prepared right in front of them.
