KOGA is a French restaurant that harmoniously combines warmth and sophistication within a renovated 120-year-old Kyoto townhouse. The space subtly fuses the charm of historic architecture with modern design, evoking the elegance of Kyoto while hinting at a touch of Parisian flair.

The cuisine is crafted by a chef who, after gaining experience at “Joël Robuchon” within Japan, spent nearly a decade refining his skills across France. In Paris, he trained at several Michelin-starred restaurants, including serving as sous chef at a prestigious three-star establishment. Upon returning to Japan, he was appointed chef at a luxury hotel in Kyoto, where his refined technique and sensibility earned high acclaim.

At the heart of his philosophy—passed down from a mentor in France—is the art of combining flavors and aromas. Like a perfumer, he delicately harmonizes ingredients to create new layers of taste. This spirit is most vividly expressed in his signature dish: a warm salad featuring around 30 varieties of vegetables sourced mainly from the Kyoto area, each prepared to highlight its unique character. Through varied cooking methods and techniques, he draws out the vegetables’ natural strength and aromatic depth. His charcoal-grilled meat dishes likewise embody his distinctive culinary vision, with sauces and aromas interwoven to create a singular experience.
