Gion Senryu （ぎをん 川柳）

Nestled on Shinmonzen-dori Street in Gion, Kyoto, is "Gion Senryu," a restaurant of proven skill whose talents are recognized by the Michelin Guide.

On display is a collection of rare ingredients sourced from across Japan, many of which are seldom seen elsewhere. They are all carefully chosen by the discerning eye of our head chef, who is also a certified vegetable sommelier. To maximize the inherent flavor of each ingredient, we meticulously select our oil and flour—the heart of our tempura. Fried with masterful skill, the batter is rendered exceptionally thin, creating a light and crisp texture.

Alongside classics like the kuruma-ebi prawn, we also propose new ways to enjoy tempura, such as serving certain pieces with a special sauce for wine pairing. The warm hospitality of the okami (proprietress) adds to the delightful atmosphere. Here you will find a new way of enjoying tempura—one that offers both the comfort of an omakase (chef's choice) and the excitement of choosing for yourself.
