About La Bécasse
– A dish without a final form. Ever-evolving, one-of-a-kind French cuisine.
Nestled in a quiet corner of Osaka’s Hiranocho district, La Bécasse, created by Yoshinori Shibuya — one of Japan’s leading figures in gastronomy — is an intimate French restaurant with just 12 seats.
With every seat offering a chef’s table experience, this exclusive space invites guests to witness culinary artistry unfold before their eyes, each moment crafted with heartfelt precision.
Chef Shibuya began his culinary journey in France in 1980, training at legendary institutions such as Paul Bocuse, Jamin, and Alain Chapel. In 1990, he opened his own restaurant in Yotsubashi, Osaka, and in 2014 relocated to its current location in Hiranocho, refined into an intimate, luxurious setting of just 12 seats to ensure the highest quality experience.
At the heart of his philosophy lies the belief in never settling on a final form. Each dish emerges from spontaneous inspiration, shaped by the essence of the ingredients, and elevated by a profound understanding of their potential. Every plate is a fleeting moment — a singular expression of flavor and creativity.
A seasoned sommelier with over 20 years of experience curates a wine selection that perfectly complements Chef Shibuya’s delicate French cuisine. Centered on French vintages, the list spans from the Old World to the New World, offering thoughtfully chosen pairings for every dish.
The interior is elegantly designed with a white base and striking red accents, creating a serene yet sophisticated ambiance. Within this extraordinary space, guests are invited to discover new tastes and immerse themselves in a dining experience filled with wonder and lasting impressions.
Whether for a special occasion or simply in search of an unforgettable meal, La Bécasse offers a truly sensory journey. Guests are invited to experience French cuisine that is constantly evolving — an experience found only at La Bécasse.
