The Shimbashi Area
Features of the Shimbashi Area
Shimbashi is one of Tokyo's major business districts, widely known as a favorite hub for the city's "salarymen," (office workers). The area is famous for its vibrant nightlife, with countless izakaya (Japanese-style pubs) and bars that cater to the after-work crowd.
At the same time, Shimbashi's prime location next to the upscale Ginza district means that visitors have easy access to Ginza's world-class restaurants. You'll also find that Shimbashi has its own share of high-end establishments, including sophisticated restaurants perfect for business entertainment and long-standing traditional Japanese eateries.
Enjoying Sushi in the Shimbashi Area
There are two excellent ways to enjoy world-class sushi in the Shimbashi area.
First, you can dine at one of Shimbashi's own outstanding sushi restaurants. The neighborhood is home to many high-end sushi establishments that rival the quality found in Ginza. A key advantage is that these top-tier Shimbashi restaurants are often easier to book a reservation for than their famous Ginza counterparts.
The second option is to visit a sushi restaurant in Ginza. This area is home to some of Japan’s most renowned sushi spots, making it a great choice if you want to dine at a famous restaurant.
