About Kyokaiseki KICHISEN

Kyokaiseki KICHISEN is a Michelin-awarded renowned restaurant located in the historic Tadasu no Mori forest, a famous power spot, in Kyoto. The restaurant selects seasonal ingredients with great care and prepares them using traditional techniques inherited from the art of cha-kaiseki (tea ceremony cuisine). Each dish is a masterpiece, beautifully presented and offering a memorable taste experience.

The owner, Yoshimi Tanigawa, has been captivated by cooking since childhood and honed his skills at several prestigious restaurants. He has also studied various traditional Japanese arts, including tea ceremony, flower arrangement, and calligraphy, infusing his culinary creations with a unique aesthetic that has become the hallmark of Kyokaiseki KICHISEN's cuisine. Since opening in 1983, Kyokaiseki KICHISEN has earned numerous accolades and continues to captivate food enthusiasts worldwide.

Kyokaiseki KICHISEN’s cuisine is dedicated to drawing out the natural flavors of its ingredients. For example, in summer, the restaurant serves delicate and thin slices of sea eel, using seasonal ingredients to their fullest. The visually stunning dishes, paired with rich flavors, create a harmonious and blissful experience for all five senses.

The interior exudes the calm and elegance of ancient Kyoto, offering a serene dining atmosphere. At the counter, guests can enjoy the chef's skills up close. Private rooms are also available, making it an ideal setting for special occasions.

Surrounded by the beauty of nature across the changing seasons, guests can fully enjoy the essence of Kyoto cuisine in a truly exceptional setting.
