About Akiyama

Located in the glamorous Minato ward, the city of Shirogane exudes the nostalgic charm of the downtown area. Akiyama is a renowned tempura and Japanese cuisine restaurant.

The owner, Hideyuki Akiyama, developed a passion for fish while working at a fish-centric izakaya. He decided to deepen his knowledge and spent five years honing his skills at Sushi Shin, a Michelin-starred sushi restaurant in Nishi-Azabu. As he refined his culinary techniques and encountered high-quality fish he had never experienced before, his interest in Japanese cuisine grew stronger. He then decided to move on and gained four years of experience at Higuchi, a Michelin two-star Japanese restaurant in Jingumae, before finally opening Akiyama in February 2018.

Akiyama's vision for Akiyama was to create a small eatery that is not limited to kaiseki cuisine, kappo cuisine, or sushi. He aimed to establish a casual and approachable restaurant for everyday dining when one simply wants to enjoy delicious food. The menu is not confined to a specific culinary field, and the dishes are designed to be savored in small portions, allowing guests to enjoy them alongside sake.

The omakase course, composed of fresh seasonal ingredients personally sourced by the owner from the market every day, revolves around seafood and includes a variety of dishes such as sashimi, grilled items, simmered dishes, and seasonal vegetable delicacies. The meal concludes with a seasonal selection of rolled sushi, hand-rolled sushi, nigiri sushi, and chimaki. The handcrafted soba noodles and freshly cooked rice prepared as the finale are also exceptional. Each dish exudes a profound and gentle deliciousness. The number of courses can be adjusted according to one's appetite, ensuring guests can fully enjoy the entire meal.

The intimate restaurant has only seven seats, creating a private and exclusive atmosphere. The elegant space features a silver-colored counter made of mortar and vibrant indigo walls made of washi paper. It is an ideal place for friends, couples, and anyone seeking a personal dining experience.

We invite you to savor the delicious cuisine and experience the refined hospitality of the owner
