About Kagurazaka Marutomi
Please note that entry from the Jizo-zaka side service entrance is not permitted. The main entrance is located at the top of the slope, so please be sure to use the front entrance when you visit.
Kagurazaka Marutomi is a Japanese restaurant quietly nestled on a corner of Jizozaka. While deeply rooted in tradition, Chef Kenichi Onodera weaves inventive flair into his cuisine, expressing the changing seasons through each dish.
The menu evolves in harmony with the twenty-four solar terms, showcasing the blessings of the season — such as pike conger from Awaji, kobako crab from the Sea of Japan, and wild tiger pufferfish directly sourced from Bungo — all transformed through refined knife work into exquisite culinary expressions.
For meat dishes, only carefully selected Wagyu beef is used, prepared through diverse techniques including charcoal grilling, beef cutlet, and sukiyaki, to bring out the full depth of flavor in Wagyu’s lean cuts. During limited periods such as the New Year season, we offer the Wagyu Kaiseki, a special course that allows guests to fully savor the appeal of Wagyu through various preparations such as Wagyu sushi, sukiyaki, and tempura — a menu highly praised by guests from both Japan and abroad.
The Omakase Kaiseki, built upon a foundation of traditional techniques, combines the essence of dashi with the natural beauty of seasonal ingredients, bringing new discoveries and moments of delight with every visit.
Inside, the warm ambiance harmonizes classic Japanese aesthetics with the soft rhythm of jazz. At the counter, illuminated by gentle light, the precise movements and sounds of the chefs stimulate the senses, creating an atmosphere akin to a live performance. Meanwhile, in the private rooms, time flows gracefully — ideal for business dinners, family gatherings, or special occasions.
In this space where the tranquility of tradition meets the rhythm of jazz, guests are invited on a sensory journey through the flavors of the season, accompanied by warm and heartfelt hospitality.
