About Sorahana
In Tokyo's Toranomon district, known for its high-rise buildings under development, you will find "Toranomon Sorahana" on the ground floor of a narrow alley building, which its glass exterior serves as a landmark, just 1-minuit walk from kamiyacho-station.
Chef Kanako Wakimoto, a member of the renowned Michelin three-star restaurant "Kanda" since its opening, is the head chef. After training under Hiroshi Kanda for approximately 7 years and serving as the chef at "Amekoya Kitchen," she opened the Japanese restaurant "Sorahana" in a 90-year-old renovated traditional house in Kamakura-Hase in 2016. On October 14, 2020, the restaurant relocated to its current location in Toranomon. Chef Wakimoto currently manages both "Sorahana" in Kamakura and "Sorahana Chabou" in Toranomon.
The cuisine at "Sorahana" showcases an elegant Japanese dining experience, emphasizing the use of fresh fish delivered directly from Sagami Bay, a place that holds a special significance for Chef Wakimoto. The full-course menu consists of 11 dishes, carefully prepared to bring out the essence of deliciousness while maximizing the natural flavors of the ingredients. The simplicity of the dishes allows diners to clearly understand the intention behind each creation. The simmered dish, where the seasoning of the broth subtly changes depending on the type of bowl used, and the seasonal flavors incorporated into the Hassun (assorted appetizers) convey a gentle and delightful taste.
One of the popular features is the selection of four different dessert options served after the meal. Diners can choose their preferred two desserts. After enjoying the sweetness, the restaurant serves matcha tea using Kyoto's Uji tea from "Rishoen Tea Shop," prepared by whisking the tea using a tea kettle placed at the back of the counter, providing a fragrant and memorable experience.
The interior of the restaurant exudes a calm and traditional atmosphere with Kyoto-style wall finishings. A 6-seat counter - placed in the centre of the room, which is made of beautiful natural ash wood instead of traditional cypress wood, creating a harmonious blend with the delicate cuisine. It is particularly recommended for intimate gatherings with loved ones.
Please savor the genuine flavors meticulously crafted with a sincere dedication to quality ingredients.

Posted on : 05/06/2024The environment is very elegant and the taste is great. The sashimi is fresh, especially the assorted seasonal dishes, among which there was a seafood dish with a texture I had never experienced before; it was truly tasty. I hope to be able to bring my family along the next time I travel to Tokyo.Lucas de Paula

Posted on : 01/17/2024Very cozy, friendly and accommodating service, really got a feel for the Japanese cuisine in a way that is very different from the rest of the world. Nice wines, but they did run out of the one we preferred. Favorite dishes were the beef, the abelone and the sashimi!Nicolas
