Luc4.5Posted on :04/05/2025Great experience and excellent service. We had the 12 course meal, maybe a bit too much for our taste. Every course was a surprise with some than others. The salad could have left out, no added value. We did expect some more guidance on wine paring, for a 2 star restaurant. But the wines received had excellent taste and quality. The chef greeted us when we left, nice touch. We would recommend.

Joan4.3Posted on :12/14/2024This was our first Omakase experience, and as such it is hard to compare- as such, I will give it from the perspective of a new person with no expectations or standards.
The location and outdoor facade immediately gave the impression of something high class and exclusive. The interior was plain, to give emphasis on the food and plateware. (Honestly, my favorite part was the beautiful plates, pots, and dainty cutlery).
The chef spoke some English, not enough to properly explain some dishes- so we are without knowing exactly what, but that's what we came here to do so we did it without question. Also, we did not expect English at all- we we appreciated it.
If you are looking at this because it is half "traditional Japanese" and half sushi (which is what I did, as my Husband is not fond of sushi)- the traditional Japanese portion was more exotic and elevated than the sushi. Meaning, you would have better luck with a picky eater at a full sushi omakase. It is food I have never experienced, or even thought of, and as an adventurous eater it was quite an experience.
The sushi was the star, in my opinion. It was beautiful, fresh, and delicious. The dessert was my second favorite, but I won't spoil what it is- but it is something everyone will like.
The biggest "upset" I had was that for a fine dining experience, I was expecting a level of solemnity and reverence, so there was no distraction from the food. Instead at our table, we had one older Japanese couple who was talking loudly the whole time- and the chef gave no attention to the other couples at the counter at all. I felt a little overlooked, and almost as a nuisance.
But, for our first Omakase, I am pleased and happy to share my experience with family and friends.
Arakicho Tenpaku / Tempura

The omakase course at Ichiu starts with exceptional side dishes and transitions to Edomae (Tokyo-style) sushi that tantalizes the taste buds and delights the eyes. The experience is completed with delectable desserts made from seasonal ingredients. At this Michelin-recognized restaurant, you can enjoy an unforgettable dining experience through sushi and Japanese cuisine.

Ali Hsieh5.0Posted on :04/06/2025We came here for a gathering, and the food was absolutely fantastic—definitely deserving of one Michelin star or more! One of the best parts was how light and veggie-forward the dishes were, which was perfect after a long day of traveling around Tokyo (and snacking along the way).
The owner was incredibly friendly toward us as Taiwanese visitors and could even speak a bit of Taiwanese, which made us feel right at home. The staff, dressed in traditional Japanese kimonos, were very welcoming and provided warm, attentive service.
We were seated in a room with a beautiful view of a traditional Japanese garden, which made the meal even more special. Moreover, a raccoon even paid a surprise visit to the garden during our dinner!
It was truly a wonderful experience. We’ll definitely come back again! -

Kevin Preuss4.8Posted on :03/16/2025We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Nogizaka Shin. The ambience, food, and service were superb. The chef and his staff obviously take great (and justifiable) pride in their restaurant. The meal was beautiful and delicious. The chef and sommelier accompanied us to the door and wished us well as we departed.

Sal F5.0Posted on :12/22/2023It was one of the best Michelin experience we had in Tokyo. Throughout our trip, we tried 5 other Michelin starred restaurants, but Nogizaka Shin was the most memorable because of the wonderful people and of course, the meal. Every dish wonderfully reflected the season and we loved how it was not over seasoned so we can actually taste the quality of the ingredients. The service was also superb and the chef was very interactive even with our limited Japanese. We will definitely be returning and recommending the place to our friends who want to experience traditional yet innovative Japanese cuisine that is not sushi-focused.

John Mak4.7Posted on :04/05/2025A nice and fine Japanese restaurant in a quite upscale neighbourhood. The owner is kind and diligent in giving us briefing on every course he presents. The staff also keep their service to the end as my wife and I would have left over our iphones and found ourselves stranded if they had not picked up the gadgets and run out to catch us. Thank you very much.

Richard vella4.7Posted on :10/19/2024The food was amazing! All the ingredients and courses tasted out of this world! Too many courses to count, a lot of fish, as well as duck and beef.
We communicated with the chef through Google translate, which worked a treat and we got to share some laughs, whilst also learning many new things!
The only thing that let it down a little, was how quiet it was. There was a couple who bumped into and said they went every quarter as the season change, a testament to how delicious the food was. But after they left, it was only my wife and I! A little quiet, but an incredible night to remember! -

The presentation was nothing short of artful, with meticulous attention to detail that elevated the dining experience.
The menu was a harmony of flavors, with each dish offering a unique and memorable taste. The sushi was divine, crafted with the freshest ingredients that melted in the mouth. Special highlights included the succulent toro nigiri and the delicate hand-rolled temaki, both of which were perfectly balanced and bursting with flavor.
Beyond the delectable food, what truly set Asakusa Nagami apart was the chef’s genuine warmth and hospitality. Chef took the time to interact with each guest, sharing stories and insights about the dishes, enhancing the entire meal with his personal touch.
Overall, my lunch at Asakusa Nagami was not only a feast for the palate but also an enriching experience for the soul. For those seeking an authentic and memorable omakase experience in Tokyo, this hidden gem is a must-visit. -

Michael4.8Posted on :11/24/2024We went as a party of 3, and was give a semi-private area of the restaurant upstairs. It was very nice and quiet, lovely place to have good conversations. The dinner was amazing, with a few show-stoppers like the hire-zake (roasted fin wine) and grilling the fugu on the table side. The portion is also quite generous in my opinion, we all very full by the end. The service we received was very attentive yet not intrusive. I highly recommend it!

A true Japanese delicacy and just a great experience. It was about 12 courses but paced and portioned perfectly so I never felt like I ate too much. Highlights for us were the sashimi, hibachi fugu, and pizza (yes, pizza!).

Kyla5.0Posted on :05/10/2024Loved this place. Food was amazingly delicious, quality was very high.
It does require you to stand for the whole meal, so keep that in mind. But that means you're in and out very quickly, we had 12 pieces of sushi and were done in 40 minutes
Also VERY good value for your money, especially for that level of sushi. -

The restaurant is located on the first basement floor, yet it is incredibly cozy and comfortable. The chef is professional, meticulous, and has a great attitude. Raynor5.0Posted on :04/27/2024Superb meal! I particularly enjoyed the buckwheat soba and beef broth with tonburi ("mountain caviar"). We sat in a private room and the chef(s) were exceptionally attentive. They do speak English, we did not have any issues. Highly recommend, especially for foreigners who would like to try an innovative local meal.
Please note, we had a little trouble finding the restaurant because the building signage is not in English. When you find the address, Okamoto is in the basement. Additionally, for those who are familiar with Western high end dining, the omakase meal is more courses, so please make sure you have full room in your stomach before visiting. -

Goh5.0Posted on :12/01/2023After dining in at Asagaya Birdland, we are happy to say that we will recommend our friends from Singapore to try out the omakase menu as the yakitori is so delicious! You get to try unusual parts such as the gizzards, inner muscles and liver of the chicken. All were freshly grilled. Our server was impeccable as well. We enjoyed our dinner so much!
